Build the next
Cranky brand
with the people who built the last five.

Cranky is a software company from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We design, build and operate our own digital products. We currently have one open role — take a look below.

Why Cranky

A small house
that ships.

We're not a startup, not an agency, not a consultancy. After ten years we're something closer to an old craft shop — small, profitable, opinionated, and proud of the work that leaves the door.
01

Build & own.

Every product is ours. You won't write code for a stranger's slide deck — you'll ship things that pay our salaries on Monday morning.

02

Tiny team, real scope.

Under 30 people, five live brands, millions of orders. The work you ship reaches users the day it lands. No tickets buried in JIRA forever.

03

Bootstrapped.

Zero VC. We answer to customers, not boards. That means honest deadlines, no spray-and-pray pivots, and shares of the same kitchen we cook in.

04

Caribbean roots.

Santo Domingo HQ, remote-friendly worldwide. Spanish & English daily. We work island hours, hire across LATAM, and pay USD where it matters.

What we offer

Benefits, in plain
Spanish.

No ping-pong tables, no nap pods. We pay people well, give them their time back, and keep the politics out of slack.

USD compensation

Salaries paid in USD, on time, monthly. Senior bands competitive with US remote.

Flex hours

Async-first. We expect ~4h of overlap with AST. Beyond that, ship on your own clock.

25 days off + RD holidays

Plus your birthday, plus the entire week between Christmas and New Year.

Health stipend

$200/mo health/dental stipend, top-tier coverage if you're based in RD.

Workstation budget

$2k for your home setup. Laptop, monitor, chair, peripherals — you choose.

Annual offsite

Once a year, the whole team meets up — usually somewhere on the island. We pay everything.

Learning budget

$1k/yr for courses, books, conferences. Or a really nice piece of hardware. We don't audit.

Equity, eventually

Senior hires after 12 months get profit-sharing on the brand they own. Real numbers, not options theater.

RD relocation

If you want to move to Santo Domingo, we help — flights, first month's rent, paperwork.

01

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Engineering ● Open · CrankyUP Open role Remote · LATAM/EU · Full-time
$80–120k USD · year

You'll own large chunks of the CrankyUP backend — the SMM panel that's processed 2.86M+ orders since 2021. Heavy Node/PHP, Postgres, Redis, and a custom job runner.

What you'll do
  • Ship features end-to-end across API, panel and reseller dashboard — design, implement, deploy, monitor.
  • Improve reliability of our order pipeline (target: zero dropped tickets / month).
  • Refactor legacy PHP into modern Node services as we migrate.
  • Mentor 1–2 junior engineers as the team grows.
What we need from you
  • 5+ years shipping production back-end code in Node and at least one of Go, Python or PHP.
  • Strong relational DB chops — schema design, indices, query plans, partitioning.
  • Comfort with Linux servers and Docker; experience with high-throughput queues a plus.
  • Spanish or English fluent · the other one passable.
Bonus
  • You've worked on SMM, ad-tech or any platform that does >100 ord/sec.
  • You write clearly when you're not coding.
02

Linux Sysadmin / DevOps

Engineering CrankyHost Not currently hiring Reopens when we need to grow infra
No vacancy

CrankyHost rents servers we own. You'll keep them up, fast, and stop snowflakes from happening. KVM, NVMe, BGP, the works — at a scale where 5 minutes of downtime is everybody's bad day.

What you'll do
  • Operate our KVM virtualization fleet — provisioning, monitoring, patching, capacity.
  • Take part in the 24/7 on-call rotation (1 week / 4, ~3 pages avg).
  • Automate everything that gets touched twice. Ansible / Terraform / Go scripts welcome.
  • Improve customer-facing tooling: control panel, billing edge cases, rDNS, IPv6.
What we need from you
  • 4+ years Linux sysadmin or platform/SRE work, ideally at a hosting provider or in-house DC.
  • Comfort with networking: VLANs, BGP, anycast — not all, but most.
  • Good at writing post-mortems that don't blame people.
03

Product Designer

Design Cross-brand Not currently hiring Reopens with our next product push
No vacancy

You'd be our second product designer. You'll bounce between brands — one week wrangling a checkout flow on RIEMSA, the next polishing the CrankyUP dashboard. Strong systems thinking, in-house craft.

What you'll do
  • Own UX for at least two brands at a time, in collaboration with engineers and the founder.
  • Maintain and extend the shared Cranky design system across products.
  • Ship from idea to live — research, wireframe, hi-fi, prototype, hand-off, QA.
  • Touch motion and brand identity when it matters.
What we need from you
  • 4+ years shipping consumer or prosumer SaaS as product designer.
  • A portfolio with at least one project you took from sketch to production.
  • Figma fluent. Bonus if you can write CSS without an LLM.
04

Growth & Partnerships

Growth CrankyUP Not currently hiring Position currently filled
No vacancy

CrankyUP is the #1 stream-boosting platform on the planet — and most of our growth is still word-of-mouth. You'd own the engine that takes us from "loud" to "everywhere".

What you'll do
  • Run the creator-affiliate program — recruit, onboard, support, retain.
  • Negotiate resale & API partnerships with SMM panels and agencies worldwide.
  • Own content: blog, social, community AMAs. We have an audience — feed it.
  • Report directly to the founder on growth metrics, weekly.
What we need from you
  • You've done growth or BD in creator economy / SMM / streaming — or you have receipts proving you can.
  • Network in Twitch / Kick / TikTok / Roblox communities.
  • Spanish + English. Portuguese a plus.
05

Customer Support · ES

Support & Ops RIEMSA Not currently hiring Team at capacity
No vacancy

RIEMSA handles Free Fire top-ups across México and LATAM. The customer support team is currently at capacity — we'll reopen this role when call volume grows.

What you'd do (when open)
  • Answer tickets and chat — in Spanish, with care and speed.
  • Handle payment edge cases (OXXO, MP, USDT) using our internal tools.
  • Flag bugs / scams to engineering with full repro steps.
  • Cover one of three shifts (we run 24/7).
What we'd look for
  • Native Spanish, professional English.
  • Patience, written grace, gamer empathy.
  • 1+ year in support, ideally e-commerce or gaming.
06

Community Manager

Support & Ops steal.lat Not currently hiring Role currently covered in-house
No vacancy

steal.lat is our Brainrot Tracker for the Roblox "Steal a Brainrot" community. It runs on memes, screenshots and inside jokes. This role is currently covered in-house — we'll reopen it as the community grows.

What you'd do (when open)
  • Run our Twitter/X presence for steal.lat — daily posts, weekly highlights.
  • Curate the Brainrot index as the game ships new ones — accuracy is the whole product.
  • Liaise with creators and Roblox group leaders for partnerships.
  • Spot trends in Roblox communities early — and tell us where to point steal.lat next.
What we'd look for
  • You play Roblox. You know what a brainrot is without Googling it.
  • Sharp writing in Spanish & English. Native meme-fluent.
  • 1+ year doing community / social for a brand or game.
How we hire

Four steps,
no bullshit.

We respect your time. From first email to offer it's usually two to three weeks. Take-homes are paid, references are mutual, and the founder reads every CV.
Step 01

Send us an email

Two paragraphs, CV or portfolio, link to one thing you're proud of. Skip the formal cover letter — write like a human.

~ same day reply
Step 02

30-min intro call

You meet the founder or the team lead. We talk about the role, your past work, and what you'd want to build. No trick questions.

~ within 1 week
Step 03

Paid take-home

A small, realistic piece of work (~4 hours). We pay $200 for your time whether or not we move forward. No live coding.

~ at your pace
Step 04

Team chat + offer

You meet the 2–3 people you'd work with closest. We check references both ways. Offer within 48 hours of that conversation.

~ 2 weeks end-to-end
Honest answers

Things you'd
ask anyway.

Hiring pages tend to dance around the awkward bits. Here are the ones we usually get over email — answered up front.

Can I work from outside Latin America?

Yes for engineering and design — anywhere with ~4h overlap with AST (UTC-4). Support roles are LATAM-only because of shifts and language.

Do you sponsor visas?

Not directly, but if you want to relocate to the Dominican Republic we cover paperwork, flights and the first month's rent.

What's the team like?

Under 30 people, half in RD, half remote across LATAM/EU. Engineers, designers, support and ops — no managers without an IC craft.

What stack do you run?

Node + Go on the back end, React on the front. PHP in places we haven't migrated yet. Postgres, Redis, RabbitMQ. Bare-metal & KVM for infra.

Is there equity?

Senior hires unlock profit-sharing on a specific brand after 12 months. Not options on a maybe-someday IPO — actual dollars from a profitable business.

Do you use AI for coding?

Yes, like grown-ups — for boilerplate, tests, docs. We don't ship AI-generated business logic. You should know when to use it and when to think harder.

What if my title isn't here?

Send a note anyway to jobs@cranky.do. We've hired several people who emailed us before we knew we needed them.

Why "Cranky"?

The founder had a dog. The dog was cranky. The domain was available. Ten years later, here we are.

Ready to apply?

Send us an
email — not a form.

Two paragraphs is plenty. Tell us what you'd do here, link to one thing you're proud of. The founder reads everything.
